When purchasing a Genuine Toyota CV Boot Kit you may notice that there are two color (types) of axle grease contained in the kit. Which one goes to which?
There is a saying that most Toyota Techs know... "Thinner is inner". This means that if you looked at the viscosity (feel) of the grease, you should notice a difference. Thus the expression.
Also, if you look at the color, Tan grease is for the inside joint (closest to the diff or transmission), black grease for the outside joint (closest to the wheel).
