This seal saver is a thin metal sleeve that slides over the reaer portion of the crankshaft where the rear main seal contacts the crankshaft. This covers up any grooves cut into the crankshaft by the old seal and provides a new smooth surface for the seal to contact without being damaged by the groove cut in the crankshaft by the previous seal.
