The Toyota 8.4" axle, also known as the Toyota 8.4" T100, Tacoma, or Tundra rear axles, features a drop out style 3rd member. Although it is called a Toyota 8.4" axle, the ring gear is actually 8.25" in diameter. Other than a few very rare exceptions this axle was never offer with a factory locking differential. This axle also looks identical to the Toyota 7.5" axle so please make sure to verify your axle before placing an order. The following details may help identify your axle:
• 2005 and newer Tacoma's without a factory locker have the Toyota 8.4" rear axle.
• 2005 and newer Tacoma's with a factory locker have the Toyota 8" TV6 rear axle.
• All 1996-2009 4Runner and FJ Cruisers without a factory locker have the Toyota 8" V6 rear axle.
• All 1996-2009 4Runners and FJ Cruisers with a factory locker have the Toyota 8" TV6 rear axle.
• 1995-2004 4x4 Tacoma's without a factory locker have the Toyota 8.4" rear axle.
• 1995-2004 4x4 Tacoma's with a factory locker have the Toyota 8" TV6 rear axle.
• 1995 -2009 2WD Tacoma's were sold with Toyota 7.5", Toyota 8.4", and Toyota TV6 rear axles.
